The honorary chairman of the 7th day of Sarv-e Simin festival said: we may not have much to say in sculpturing, but we are known in the world in Ghalam Zani art (repoussé and chasing).
According to the news staff of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), Mohammad Heydari, an active artisan in the field of Ghalam Zani (repoussé and chasing) and the honorary chairman of the 7th day of the festival, said: I was born in Isfahan and I have been in direct contact with Ghalam Zani art. Since 2003, when I resided in Tehran, I continued this work professionally. Now, in addition to working in this field of art and craft, I am training the art students in Handicrafts and Islamic Arts academies in Tabriz, Soore and Imam Sadiq (PBHU) universities.
He added: Iranian handicrafts are included in fine arts. we may not have much to say in sculpturing, but we are known in the world in Ghalam Zani art (repoussé and chasing).
Heydari continued: Iranian handicrafts and traditional arts are of the most diversity and this diversity has made us unable to know all the arts well and introduce them to others.
He said: the art of Ghalam Zani belongs to Iran plateau. Those who had more trade with Iran had a more complete understanding of this art. Any industry must maintain its dynamism in order to progress. We have to open the doors for the world to see our art.
This artisan stated: such festivals should be held more often, because we should introduce the artisans’ community more. The presence of children and students in these festivals should be provided so that they can get to know the culture, history and handicrafts of our country much better.
The 7th edition of Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), is being held from 15-23 February at National Museum of Iran.
