Professor Kean Kim Joseph Lo said: art is the expression of feelings, but design is a tangible output. Art originates from the human heart and soul, but design is the response to the needs and requirements.
According to the news staff of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), an international workshop titled ” Culture Based Product, Develop, Design & Training Workshop” was held with presentation of Professor Joseph Lo in cooperation with the World Crafts Council on Wednesday February 22.
He said: Art is related to taste and its design depends on the origin and identity of that country. Art is innate, but you can learn how to design. Art has different views in different cultures and always sends a single message to everyone, and you can see the difference between art and design.
Joseph Lo continued: art is the expression of feelings, but design is a tangible output. Art originates from the human heart and soul, but design is the response to the needs and requirements. Art depends on human intelligence, but the design is based on experience, and the more the experience, the more magnificent the art. Art deals with aesthetics, but design is involved with practical issues.
The 7th edition of Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), is being held from 15-23 February at National Museum of Iran.
