The news staff of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7) reported: the number seven has been sacred to Iranians and has had many stories since ancient times. The 7th Sarv-e Simin Festival was also passed the 7th Labor with brilliant achievements on the evening of the Wednesday February 23, 2023 at Milad Tower.
In this ceremony, proud Iranian women depicted the cultural diversity of Iran with colorful local clothes and symbols from different ethnic communities. In the background of red, green and yellow colors, you could see the culture and customs of the villages of Iran.
In the middle of this great celebration of Iranian peoples’ art and culture, beautiful and eye-catching artworks were displayed and skillful artisans displayed portions of Iran land’s beauties; From Mina Kari (enameling) to Baloch embroidery and traditional embroideries.
Bakhtiari’s local clothing also attracted the eyes of every viewer in the other part of the hall. Pearl-embroidered kerchiefs and dresses full of designs and patterns that are worthy of the women of this land.
Kilim weaving and Jajim weaving were amongst the other arts that were exhibited by artisans from this full of treasures territory. In another corner, we watched the traditional textile art of Golestan province, which showed the clothing production process from zero to hundred; from planting cotton and turning it into thread to turning it into fabrics, bags, cushions, etc.
This festival and its final stage were a clear manifestation of this saying: “Art is with Iranians and that’s it”.
Handicrafts express the art, taste and culture of a nation and have a lot of integration with the history, traditions, geographical environment and consumption requirements of people. You can learn authentic Iranian arts and crafts and create job opportunities while nourishing your soul, especially with not much capital and by using simple tools.
Artisan Should Sit at the Top and be Appreciated.
On the final night of the 7th Sarv-e Simin Festival, dozens of male and female artisans from Iran and other countries were honored for their valuable art skills, and these numbers were only a handful of plenty. Every inch of this territory has witnessed the brilliance of the people’s art over the past thousands of years. Safeguarding, preserving and promoting these irreplaceable treasures is the duty of all of us.
The development and promotion of handicrafts and honoring Iranian traditional arts is very effective and necessary for creating national understanding between different ethnic communities and bridging the gap between past, present and future, which can also play a vital role in the boom of the lucrative tourism industry. Handicrafts are the cultural treasures of a nation, which today has been neglected due to the development of modern industries, but it should be always remembered that Iran is the land of artists and artisans, and art drips from every knuckle of its people and artist and artisan should sit at the top and be appreciated.
