We, the opening ceremony of the 8th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv_e Simin 8) with the presence of Ali Darabi, Deputy Minister and Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Maryam Jalali, Deputy Minister of Handicrafts, Saad Al-Qadoumi, President of the World Handicrafts Council, other foreign guests and a group of handicrafts artists on Friday 17 It was held in February 2024 in the cultural and artistic complex of Azadi Tower.
Ceremony with cutting the ribbon and writing a memorial text by the officials and the parade of the flags of Iran, Afghanistan, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Serbia, Thailand, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as carrying the flags of 16 global cities and villages. Crafts started in Abadeh, Isfahan, Tabriz, Khorashad, Zanjan, Sirjan, Shiraz, Dezful, Kashan, Golpurgan, Qasimabad, Mashhad, Malayer, Marivan, Meibod and Laljin.
A new approach in handicrafts
In the continuation of the ceremony, Maryam Jalali, the vice president of Handicrafts, stated that a new season and approach has been set before Handicrafts, and continued: the eternal dignity of Handicrafts is reflected in all our policies.
He pointed to the holding of Fajr Handicrafts Festival in Azadi Tower, which is a symbol of the revolution, and considered it a guarantee for a better tomorrow of Iran, and added: Handicrafts are supposed to establish a dignified economy and the livelihood of the foundation's identity and realize the economic approach in the second step of the revolution.
At the end of his speech, Jalali mentioned the beautiful creation of stone, glass, leather, and fabric by artisans.
A privileged country called Iran
In his speech, Saad al-Qadoumi, the head of the World Handicrafts Council, also mentioned Iran's efforts to protect different ethnic groups and said: Iran is a privileged country and a symbol for preserving and protecting sustainable handicrafts.
He also mentioned Iran's cooperation and interaction with the World Crafts Council and thanked Jalali for inviting him to this festival.
In the continuation of this ceremony, the traditional hymn of the 8th Serov Simin was performed.
This hymn in 35 verses is written by Hamidreza Hosseini describing the cities and villages of the world handicrafts.
