The ninth edition of the Fajr International Handicrafts Festival (Sarv-e-Simin 9) was officially introduced in a press conference on February 5, with a strong emphasis on national unity as its central theme. The event, attended by industry experts and international evaluators, aims to celebrate craftsmanship while fostering cultural diplomacy.

During the conference, Maryam Jalali, Deputy of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts, highlighted the festival’s role in shaping cultural discourse. Following previous editions that focused on women and generational continuity, this year’s festival will emphasize national unity, aligning with the government’s broader vision. Jalali also stressed the festival’s dual approach—trade-focused exhibitions alongside authenticity-driven showcases—ensuring the preservation and promotion of traditional arts.

This year's festival welcomes international evaluators from India, China, Thailand, and Russia, alongside special guests from 20 countries. More than 7,497 pieces from 4,378 artists were submitted, including 198 international entries. The selected works will be exhibited at Sa’dabad Palace across three halls, offering visitors an immersive experience in traditional craftsmanship.

Scientific panels, expert discussions, and a special "Homay-e Honar" section honoring veteran artisans will complement the main exhibition. To enhance accessibility, bilingual digital catalogs have been introduced, allowing attendees to scan and explore artwork details via mobile devices.

The jury, consisting of four international and five national judges, will evaluate entries based on artistic message, material quality, originality, creativity, and identity. In addition to the main awards, special recognitions such as “Toranj-e Simin” (Silver Medallion), “Ravayesh Dobareh-ye Sarv” (Rebirth of Cypress), and the Audience Award will be presented.

The festival, now a well-established international event, continues to strengthen Iran’s position in the global handicrafts industry, bridging tradition with contemporary artistic expression.
