The juror of the 7th Sarv-e Simin Festival said: Industrial and machine life has made us forget the handicrafts of different parts of our country. Holding the festival makes these handicrafts visible again.

According to the news staff of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), Youssef Samadi Bahrami; lecturer of Art University and juror of Sarv-e Simin Festival said: Festival can support handicraft artisans. Many artisans work in remote villages and in different parts of Iran and have continued the thousand years of heritage from generation to generation until these artworks reached the festival.

He added: Industrial and machine life has made us forget these handicrafts. Holding the festival makes these handicrafts visible again.

Samadi Bahrami said: As jurors, we must choose artworks that have authenticity and features. These artisans should be introduced to people so that their artworks can be seen and people use these handicrafts, which is very good news if this happens.

This university professor continued: Some artisans are in remote villages and no one knows them. For example, an artisan embroiders in one of the villages of Baluchistan, but no one sees this work of art.

He said: Iranian handicrafts are known in the world. The Ministry of Cultural Heritage has the duty to recognize these artisans and of course this has happened and artworks from different parts of Iran can be seen in the festival. The artwork that is selected in this festival and gets a national award, its creator is seen and introduced to the public, and his/her profession develops.

Samadi Bahrami added: People’s familiarity with handicrafts makes people know these artisans. Of course, sometimes there are defects in the artwork, which by holding specialized meetings, we express the defects of the work and suggest what materials the artisan should use so that his/her artwork becomes more practical and can be seen better.

The 7th edition of Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), was held from 15-23 February at National Museum of Iran.
