Mohammad Ghasemi said: We should make Iran’s capacities in the field of handicrafts and traditional arts known to the world which to some extent, by holding such events and festivals, we have confirmed Iran’s position in the region and the world.
In a conversation with the news staff of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), Mohammad Ghasemi said: The International Relations Committee is moving in line with the main goals of the festival. The purpose of this festival is to attract the attention of artisans and art lovers of the world to the nature of Iranian handicrafts and traditional arts, so that through the display of these products, the chapter of interactions with other countries will be opened.
The chairman of the International Relations Committee of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival added: On the other hand, we want to make Iran’s capacities in handicrafts and traditional arts known to the world, which to some extent, by holding these events and festivals, we have confirmed Iran’s position in the region and the world. Our plan is to exhibit artworks so that the best works of art can be selected from among them. This is an incentive for other countries to participate in this festival. Of course, we expect that the international section of the festival will be faced more luck in the following editions.
He, stating that festivals and events like this, are one of the ways and mechanisms to introduce handicrafts to the world, said: In this festival, we also have a look at education. We can turn the invitation of international jurors for this festival into the best opportunity to plan, organize and implement various opportunities.
Referring to the position of Iranian traditional arts and handicrafts in the world, Ghasemi said: The position of traditional arts and handicrafts of Iran in the world is not hidden from anyone. These products have taken the top position in the world. A large number of the fields known in traditional arts and handicrafts belong to Iran, and this shows that Iran is in the top position in the world.
The chairman of the International Relations Committee of the 7th Sarv-e Simin Festival, regarding the impact of this festival in introducing handicrafts and traditional arts in the region and the world, said: Festivals, exhibitions and events act as a platform for interaction, and the special feature of these events is that they are held face to face. In these events, communication is established between the artisan and the artisan and between the artisan and the general audience. When a Singaporean, Indian, Kuwaiti, Omani, etc. artisan participates in this festival, he will definitely get to know the Iranian traditional arts and handicrafts, communicate face to face and exchange things with others. They, for sure, mention these artworks in their diaries and travelogues or put photos in the virtual space for everyone to see and these artworks are disseminated and republished. This year, artisans from Asia- Pacific region will be present in this festival, but we hope that in the following editions it will exceed this limit and the result of the work will be doubled.
The 7th edition of “Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival” (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), is being held on 15-23 February at National Museum of Iran.
