Authentic Iranian Identity is in Culture and Crafts

Amir Abdi; Aine-kar (mirror work) artisan and honorary chairman of the second day of the 7th Sarv-e Simin festival said: The national identity of Iranians is in culture and handicrafts, which should be transmitted from generation to generation.

According to the news staff of the 7th Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), Amir Abdi; the honorary chairman of the second day of the festival, while visiting different sections of the festival and planting the second cypress sapling, said: artworks such as Ghalam zani (metal work), Eslimies (arabesques), painting and handicrafts are at the national level, and this shows that we have something to say in the world.

He added: these festivals should be introduced to young people so that they don’t look for other’s cultures in the virtual space.

This veteran artisan said: when we want to update handicraft designs and patterns, art students and artisans working in this field must be informed.

He continued: the art of Aine-kari (mirror work) was different in the past and the art students of this field present an art that surprises people with new designs and patterns adopted from our traditions.

Amir Abdi, in the end, said: the national identity of Iranians is in the culture and handicrafts, which must be transmitted from generation to generation in order to preserve this authentic identity in the world.

 

The 7th edition of Fajr International Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival (Sarv-e Simin-e 7), is being held from 15-23 February at National Museum of Iran.
